My Turtles

I have two turtles and a gold fish. The Goldfish is called Goldfish, and I call the turtles Bubba and Sweets. But their real names are Rosencratz and Gildenstein from Shakespeare. Here are some pics!!

Megan's Vegas Trip

This past weekend I went on a trip to Vegas. It was so cold and nasty here in Idaho I thought, Vegas will be great! Actually I went to see UNLV and get a feel for campus to see if that's where I want to go. I had so much fun with some of my old friends, seeing the Bellagio, going to the Last Vegas High School, playing games, going to see Four Christmases (which I really liked), and more. Here are some of my favorite pictures. As for UNLV, I'm undecided still. I'm going to look into a couple of other schools for GRAD programs first.

Halloween 2008

Halloween was fun this year! We went to two different ward parties (all dressed up too) and then went haunted housing. The best part of the haunted house was a bus with dead people on it and they would grab your ankles when you were walking though. I was screaming and trying to run off the bus! Then at the end Joker latched on to me and walked us to our car claiming he was going home with me. It was creepy and Teralee was scared bc she doesn't like clowns! Here are some pics!

Election Day

I'm not sure how everyone else feels about this election, but I'm watching Fox News and saw Obama won the electorial votes. So we have a new president. I feel sick to my stomach, maybe that is extreme but I am nervous and worried about our country. Being in Idaho I hear a lot about hunting and life and such. So people here are worried about the gun laws that Obama wants to put into effect. Which doesn't affect me that much but I can see how much it will affect the environment. Although the idea of socialized medicine doesn't seem that bad, I am still nervous on what is going to happen. So I was hoping to get other people's ideas and opinions on this election so that I can broaden my horizons and learn more of what our country is getting itself into. Not that either candidate was far better than the other, I just feel nervous. Any new information??

A couple of weeks ago I spent a night at a "call center" (it was really just someone's apartment where a bunch of people gathered to make phone calls) trying to contact citizens of California and asking them if they had heard of Proposition 8. If so, we tried to find out how they would vote. If they had not heard of it we tried to give them some information. Here are just a few of the facts that I learned from that call night. This really is a Big Deal!

History:
* In 2000, Californians passsed (by 61%) Proposition 22 which establishes marriage as valid only between a man and a woman.
*In May 2008 the California Supreme Court ruled 4-3 rules that Proposition 22 is unconsititutional. This made it possible for gays to get married legally in California. (If passed Prop 8 amends CA consitution making it impossible for the court ot overturn)

Fact:
*Proposition 8 leaves intact the rights and benefits of gay or lesbian domestic partners. Under California law "domestic partners shall have the same rights, protections and benefits" as married spouses (Family Code 297.5). There are no exceptions to this. Proposition 8 will not change this.
--This Proposition is basically just defining that marriage is between a man and woman. No rights lost.

Expected Outcomes - If Proposition 8 Fails (these are what really get me)
*Churches may be sued over their tax-exempt status if they refuse same-sex marriages.
*Teachers will be required to teach children there is no difference between gay and traditional marriages.
*Religious adoption agencies may be forced to place children with gay couples.
*Private universities may be required to allow gay couples in the married student housing.
*Ministers who preach against same-sex marriage may be sued for hate speech and risk government fines.

I think if this passes in California it won't be long before we see it in our own states. Below is an email from ProtectMarriage.com asking for more donations to support the efforts to pass Prop 8. I've given a few times now, I hope you will too. I really believe this cause needs all the support and effort we can give if we are to protect our values and beliefs.

Happy Birthday Desaray!!!

It's Desaray's birthday and Teralee and I wanted to list our favorite top 5 things about Desaray!!

1. How she always listens and when I stop by the office she takes about an hour out of her day just to chat with me!
2. She's always willing to go and play with us! Doing whatever adventure we choose!
3. When Teralee first moved to Utah, Desaray helped with the transition process and even wrote little notes of encouragement.
4. You can always count on her to be there when you need help, she's the first in line every time!
5. She laughs and understands all your stupid little stories.

Desaray is the best oldest sister we could ask for! Have a great birthday!

I HAVE NEW BRAKES!!!

As a citizen of our country, safety is my first priority when driving.  I like to protect other citizens from crazy driving.  So lately my brakes have been shaking pretty bad when I drive.  Which is not fun at all and frankly endangers others on the road when you're in a tight squeeze!  (haha) So Jake told me to go to Les Schwabs and have my brakes checked.  I did and my driver side front brakes were .8 something and legal limit where you HAVE to change is .32 or something.  You get the idea!  Then Jake made me go to Checkers by myself!  Do you know what they do to girls when they are there alone?  They stalk them and constantly banter them with questions b/c a girl can't possibly know what they are doing at Checkers!  Actually the guy that helped me was really nice and got me brakes for my car that cost 26 dollars!!  And they wanted to charge me 280 at Les Schwabs to get new brakes!  I got my brakes and it took a week for Jake to have time to install them but on my way to get a break change, I picked up 5 qt. of oil and a new oil filter.  So on the beautiful freezing day of October 9th, Jake put new brakes on my car, Ruby, and gave her an oil change.  It started raining when I got to his house and then quickly changed to snow.  I tried to get a good picture but who knows if you can really see the white flakes.  They were sure big though!!  Our first snow of the year!  It was a whopping 38 degrees while I sat outside and kept Jake company during the renovations on Ruby.  She is working good now!!!  And it saved me a ton of money!  The driver side brake pad was metal on metal, no wonder it shook so bad!  The other side was still pretty nice which was a relief.  But now it's new and ready to go!!!

'47 Willy's Jeep

HERE IS THE REAL JEEP!!  This is the one that he restored!!!

For the past two months Jake has been working on rebuilding a 1947 Willy's Jeep.  I have been the patient one who sat there and tried to give tools, and talked and talked, while he worked.  He finally got it running this past week and has been taking it driving constantly.  Today was my first treck in the Jeep.  It only goes 35 mph but when there are no seatbelts or doors it seems a little fast!  We finally got me a jacket so I wouldn't freeze and put my sunglasses on to help avoid bugs! We off-roaded and climbed up some pretty steep stuff, so it was great fun!  I wanted to share my new experience with everyone and show them the jeep!  Well, it's just a picture I stole offline, but it is pretty similar, just black and rusty.

COSTA RICA!

Finally need to tell everyone about Costa Rica!   I had the time of my life!  It's been two months now so I'm really behind, but to no further ado....!!!

Angie and I went to the Cultural Square; they were hosting the Cow parade and I found the kissing cow!  You can't see the lips painted on the side but if you look closely on the shoulder there is a boy and girl about to kiss, I'm in front of the lips though!

We also went zip lining in the jungle, that was amazing and woa so much fun!  Highly recommended.  Here is a video that I took, my tour guide, Bali, was kind enough to give me a strap to attach my camera to so I wouldn't drop it!  Okay it won't load but here is a picture!  haha

I had so much fun with Angie and her family.  It was a great experience.  I even had one night when Dustin and Angie went to dinner to celebrate their anniversary, that the kids were practically begging for me to teach them aerobics, we had a blast!  THe beach was amazing and we were able to see some planes land and take off right above our heads on the beach.  I loved that trip!  Next time it's Mexico!

Twin's Birthday!

So today is our birthday.  Sabrina is all the way in Europe and I'm in Idaho.  So it doesn't seem like a real birthday, and it won't until she makes it back!  I couldn't sleep last night, I think it was the fear of 24 upon me.  I thought that I would post some pictures of Sabrina and I on here to celebrate our 24th birthday!  I hope you enjoy them.

Warm River Springs

I thought that I would show everyone what we are up to in Idaho for the 4th!  We had a nice lazy picnic on the docks of the river, and then went clay pigeon shooting and proceeded to hike up R Mountain where we saw fireworks from 3 different surrounding towns.  Today Robert, Sabrina, Teralee, Jake, and I went to Warm River Springs and explored Idaho countrysides! It was beautiful and the weather was just right .  Above is me, Teralee, Sabrina, and Robert at the top of the springs.  Below is the debut of Jake, and then a great shot of the river.  It is so pretty up here and a great place to fish.  Our next adventure?  I think so!  Then winter it's snowmachines.  We are exploring Idaho and finding some really pretty fun places!

Megan's UPDATE on Life

I'm finally updating my life for all of you. Parent teacher conferences just got over and Sabrina is up to visit. I got to take her to school for a day and it was quite exciting. The kids were crazy because it was a short day before Easter Break, my twin sister was there, and well, they are only 12 or 13.... Other than that things went great. I've been keeping busy with my ward, latin dancing, being with friends when I'm not at school, coaching club league Volleyball for 12 yr olds, and living life! Here are some photos of my recent adventures.

The first one is my old roommates, we had a little reunion at Guitars Unplugged, a campus event where people sing/plays songs at a concert. My friend Heather, old Roommate Jesika, me and old roommate Becca who is married to Kent now.

Next is my friend Anahi from Arkansas, Young, Juan, me, and Rhett. It was the roomates birthday so we all went to Denny's at midnight. It was a late night but well worth the fun and food! The company was even better. This was right after Guitars Unplugged and we had already danced for an hour. And last Sabrina came up to see me for Easter Weekend, we chopped her hair off but had a lot of fun. We went out with our old FHE brothers to DQ and the movies. Kendall and Grant are with us in the picture. Grant is beside me. Rexburg is still proving to be a fun place to live!

Megan's First Post!!

Hey Everyone! my first official post! I wanted to let everyone know what kind of weather we have been getting here in Idaho. The pictures of the cars is what happened when I was only at the gym for 30 minutes!Well, I didn't have school last week except a 1/2 day Monday (we got sent home at 11 because of the weather) and then 45 min on Thursday. When we got to school Thursday they announced right before the first tardy bell rang, that the busses were turning around and picking the kids back up and taking them home! Crazy! But this week we were in all but yesterday because of 12 foot snow drifts. It just keeps snowing and snowing. I've been driving through a foot of snow sometimes because the city can't brush the roads fast enough. I took some shots on the camera to show you but they just don't do it justice. Some are from upstairs windows and that doesn't give the full effect either. Just imagine.... Since I've been back from Christmas break, it has snowed some everyday.

I also cut and colored my hair. So here is the new me!!
okay so I can't get the camera to work. Tonight I'll put the pictures on!!
